Traveling Exhibition Activity

Assist in primary and high school science education and inspire the public’s interests in understanding science. Actually implement the concept of extending the Center from the inside out and integrate the educational resources from NTSEC with the mobility of motor vehicles to promote science education activities across Taiwan, enabling local students and teachers to enjoy and benefit from the opportunity. Provide touring and school services for schools and communities in remote areas to balance the development of science education between urban and rural areas. These action points exemplify NTSEC’s long-term commitment to science education. In 1989, NTSEC first introduced the Science Observation Fair. In 1996, NTSEC rolled out the first “3.5 ton science education tour vehicle”. And now, we have the Traveling Exhibition Activity. It contains a multitude of materials, including science carnivals, services at designated locations, and school services. By combining large-sized science education mobile vehicles, creative science experience booths, NTSEC publications, online teaching materials, and science DIYs, NTSEC provides the public, students and teachers the opportunity to visit and to experience the fun of science. With these activities, we hope that we have built a mobile science education center that belongs to and shared among the all citizens. In 2011, in collaboration with the Department of Science Education, National Science Council and the Delta Electronics Foundation, NTSEC developed “Low-Carbon Taiwan – Science Education Touring Vehicle Renewal Project” and established “Mobile Cinema”, “Mobile Museum” and “Mobile Resources Van” to enrich the resources for energy education in primary and high schools, improve the quality of education and nurture the concepts of sustainable energy and coexisting with the environment for the next generation. Traveling Exhibition Activity 3D Low-Carbon Mobile Cinema This is the first mobile cinema in Taiwan that can play 3D films. It is equipped with a 170-inch projection screen and 30 pairs of active polarized glasses, allowing viewers to experience the 3D effects immediately. On one side of the vehicle, there is a 150-inch rear projection screen that can be used to play films outdoors – a feature of the mobile cinema. Low-Carbon Mobile Museum The vehicle is divided into introduction area, exhibition area, and interactive area, which allows visitors to find out about the current state of energy development in Taiwan. They can manipulate various exhibits at the interactive area to experience the concept of low-carbon energy. They can also learn about the exploration and creation of low-carbon energy through creative teaching aids such as the microbial fermentation models and games for high school students and teachers, and the solar tracking system. Mobile Resources Van The resources van contains 5 exhibits. It presents the vision of a low-carbon life (from the aspects of food, clothing, housing, transportation, education, and entertainment) and low-carbon scientific concepts found in our daily lives, such as green buildings, low-carbon vehicles, and low-carbon tourism through interactive games such as puzzles and barricade-breaking games, along with films and animations. Mobile Library Van Serving as a multipurpose science touring vehicle, the van can be used for multiple promotional activities such as reading, film watching and demonstrations. The van can carry 300 to 800 popular science books each time. The left side of the van can show popular science films once it’s extended or by using the touch pad, it can be used for multimedia interactions, satisfying the goal of popularizing science. Math Exploration Exhibition Van The van can be expanded to accommodate 20 pieces of black box exhibits at once. The contents are brand new productions based on scientific subjects. They are changed or rotated according to the requirements of each mission. Currently, a total of 20 exhibits about mathematics are displayed. They are divided into 4 sections – topology, computer game, puzzles and quizzes, and blocks.
